The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed their third-round pick, Tykee Smith, from the 2024 draft class. This marks Smith’s fourth player to sign a four-year rookie deal with the team. Despite missing most of his first year at Georgia due to injuries, Smith managed to make four starts in 2022 and was named a second-team All-SEC selection in 2023. He had impressive stats for the season, including 70 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, four interceptions, and two passes defended.

The Buccaneers have also signed defensive lineman Earnest Brown and waived running back Patrick Laird. Brown’s addition will add depth to the defensive line, while Laird’s departure opens up space on the roster for new signings. As they prepare for the upcoming season, the Buccaneers continue to make moves to strengthen their roster.

Smith played two seasons at West Virginia before transferring to Georgia for his final three years of collegiate play. His impressive performance at Georgia caught the attention of the Buccaneers, who selected him as their third-round pick in April’s draft.

Brown is a veteran of five NFL seasons and has spent time with several different teams throughout his career. He will bring valuable experience and leadership skills to the Buccaneers’ defense.

Laird had been on the Buccaneers’ roster since 2019 but failed to impress during his time with the team. His departure paves the way for new signings and allows Tom Brady and company to focus on strengthening other areas of their offense.

As they look ahead to next season, the Buccaneers know that they need to continue building a strong roster if they want to repeat as Super Bowl champions. With their recent acquisitions and ongoing offseason workouts, there is no doubt that this team is committed to success in 2023.
