Tua Tagovailoa, the Dolphins quarterback, has shown up at the team’s mandatory minicamp despite seeking a new contract. He expressed confidence that he will receive a new deal but did not specify when that might happen, particularly before training camp. Tagovailoa acknowledged the progress in negotiations but also pointed out that reaching an agreement involves two sides working to find a middle ground due to the business aspect of contracts in the NFL.

Although Tagovailoa admitted to feeling a bit antsy about not having a second contract yet, he emphasized that he is not frustrated or upset with the situation. When asked about comparing his contract situation to other quarterbacks in the league, he emphasized that the market dictates these decisions and it is part of the business side of the game. He finds it challenging to separate the business aspect from his on-field performance, highlighting the importance of consistency in personal and professional aspects of his life.

As the Dolphins wrap up their offseason program, Tagovailoa is eager for his agent to inform him when a deal is ready to be signed. He remains hopeful that an agreement will be reached, understanding that it ultimately depends on both sides finding common ground. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his contract, Tagovailoa remains focused on his performance on the field and trusts that the negotiations will eventually result in a new deal.

During his time at Alabama, Tagovailoa established himself as one of college football’s top quarterbacks before declaring for early entry into the NFL draft. After being selected 5th overall by Miami in 2019, he had an impressive rookie season where he threw for 2834 yards and 22 touchdowns while leading Miami to their first playoff appearance since 2016.

Despite this successes however, tagovailoa still wants more stability with his future plans which include securing a long term deal with dolphins before heading into next season’s training camp.
