The rivalry between AEW World champion Swerve Strickland and Christian Cage intensified when Swerve modeled his entrance and attire after the iconic Walter Hill film, The Warriors. It truly felt like a battle between the two competitors. Swerve’s gang now only consists of Prince Nana after Cage convinced Mogul Embassy to turn against Strickland, while all three members of The Patriarchy supported Cage at ringside.

During the match, Nick Wayne attempted to intervene, but things really heated up when his mother presented the title belt. Nana grabbed the belt, leading to his disqualification from the match. Despite having a four-on-one advantage, Cage couldn’t maintain control as The Patriarchy grew increasingly aggressive. Eventually, they were all ejected by the referee, leaving it a one-on-one battle between Cage and Strickland.

The two wrestlers continued to fight fiercely, culminating in Swerve taking a flying leap off the ring steps and crashing face-first into the mat. Nick Wayne then snuck back into the ring and hit Swerve with a running cutter, only to be chased off by Nana with a steel pipe. Swerve retaliated with a Swerve Stomp on the announce desk before delivering another one in the ring, securing his victory with a House Call.

After an intense defense of his World title, Swerve celebrated briefly with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather ringside. This victory adds to Swerve’s impressive reign as AEW World champion. For more Double or Nothing results and coverage, check out our full show recap.
