In the thrilling bronze medal game at the ice hockey world championship in Prague, Sweden emerged victorious over Canada with a final score of 4-2. The hero of the game was defenseman Carl Grundstrom, who scored two goals to lead Sweden to victory. His game-winning goal came with just over six minutes left in the final period at Prague Arena. Defenseman Erik Karlsson also found the back of the net, while Marcus Johansson added an empty net goal. Goaltender Filip Gustavsson had a strong performance, making 20 saves to help secure the win for Sweden.

Canada, on the other hand, continued their medal drought after losing in the bronze medal game. Dylan Cozens scored his tournament-leading ninth goal for Canada, while Pierre-Luc Dubois also added a goal. Despite their efforts, Canada was unable to secure a medal, finishing empty-handed. This was Sweden’s first podium finish since winning back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018. Both teams had impressive runs in the early stages of the tournament, winning their groups unbeaten. However, they were both eliminated in the semifinals, with Canada losing to Switzerland in a shootout and Sweden falling to the Czech Republic.

For Sweden, this was their 18th bronze medal in world hockey championships and their last one came in 2014. Meanwhile, Canada’s disappointment was evident as they failed to win a medal for the first time since 2018 when they also lost in bronze medal game. Their last bronze medal victory came back in 1995. The Czech Republic and Switzerland would meet in the gold-medal game
