Two colleagues, Mr. Thuan and Mr. Hai, both 42 and 34 years old respectively, who work at the same company underwent routine health checks and were diagnosed with thyroid cancer at an early stage. They were referred from Dong Thap to Tam Anh General Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City for further examination. After ultrasound results, it was revealed that Mr. Thuan had nodules in his thyroid gland while Mr. Hai had multiple tumors of varying severity.

Both patients were diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer and required surgery to remove their entire thyroid gland to prevent the cancer from spreading to neighboring organs. The surgeries were successful, and both patients were discharged from the hospital the next day fortunately; the cancers were non-invasive and did not require additional treatment with radioactive iodine. According to Dr. Huynh Ba Tan, Head of the Face and Neck Unit, early detection of the cancer significantly increased the chances of survival for both patients.

Thyroid cancer is one of the common types of cancer in Vietnam, with risk factors including obesity, low iodine intake, exposure to radiation, and genetics. Dr. Tan emphasized that regular health checks are crucial for early detection and prompt treatment of diseases such as these. Not everyone working in radiation-exposed environments will develop thyroid cancer, but prioritizing labor protection measures is crucial for preventing such cases from arising in the first place. Both patients have since been able to return to their normal lives after successful surgery and treatment.

The early detection of this type of disease can be life-saving as it allows for timely intervention before it spreads to other parts of the body or becomes more difficult to treat. Regular health check-ups should be a priority especially for those who work in high-risk environments or have family history of such diseases.

In conclusion, two colleagues who worked at the same company underwent routine health checks that led them to be diagnosed with thyroid cancer at an early stage. The surgeries were successful, but not everyone working in radiation-exposed environments will develop this disease; therefore labor protection measures must be taken seriously.

Regular check-ups are essential for early detection and prompt treatment of diseases such as these that can be life-saving if caught early on.

It is important that individuals take care of their health by eating a balanced diet rich in iodine, getting enough sleep and exercise while also taking necessary precautions when working in high-risk environments.
