On Thursday, Borderland seniors who are raising their grandchildren will have the chance to focus on their mental health at a free seminar in Socorro. The event, titled “Embracing Mental Health in Aging,” will be hosted by the Grandparents Social Club, a division of Molina Healthcare of Texas, and the Rio Vista Community Center. The seminar aims to emphasize the emotional well-being of Borderland seniors who are raising their grandchildren.

The seminar will feature educational sessions on health-related topics, as well as free blood pressure and glucose screenings. Attendees can also expect a supportive community where they can connect with others who share similar experiences. In addition to the educational sessions, there will also be a painting activity and light refreshments available for participants.

“Embracing Mental Health in Aging” will take place on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Rio Vista Community Center, located at 901 N. Rio Vista Rd. in Socorro. This event is an opportunity for seniors in the community to receive valuable resources and support as they navigate the challenges of raising their grandchildren.
