The NFL has placed the comeback of 40-year-old quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the spotlight by scheduling the New York Jets to face the defending NFC champion San Francisco 49ers in Week 1 of the upcoming season on “Monday Night Football.” Despite his age, Rodgers is making great progress towards starting the game fully healthy.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh expressed confidence in Rodgers’ recovery, noting that he is working hard during organized team activities (OTAs) and showing no restrictions in his rehabilitation. Rodgers still possesses his arm talent but needs to readjust to everything and adapt to new changes within the offensive scheme. The quarterback has been participating in all activities, including taking snaps under center and showcasing proper footwork on handoffs.

Rodgers demonstrated his progress during practice, completing a high percentage of his throws in both 11-on-11 and 7-on-7 drills, impressing both his coaches and teammates. Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich complimented Rodgers on his performance, noting that he has not lost any velocity on his throws and looks rejuvenated on the field.

However, Rodgers will face a tough challenge in Week 1 against a formidable 49ers pass rush led by stars like Nick Bosa, Javon Hargrave, and Leonard Floyd, who was involved in the play that resulted in Rodgers’ Achilles injury in a previous season opener. Therefore, Rodgers will need to maintain his high level of play to succeed against such tough competition.
