In Toronto, SunDensity Inc., a company based in Rochester, has established a new subsidiary called SunDensity Canada. This was made possible through the purchase of QD Solar, Inc., a solar materials company that originated from research at the University of Toronto and is located in the MaRS Discovery District in Toronto.

SunDensity aims to explore various materials and processes for solar applications and accelerate technology development with this acquisition. The terms of the private deal were not disclosed, but company leaders expressed their excitement about the possibilities this acquisition brings.

Both SunDensity and QD Solar are graduates of Luminate NY, an accelerator program for optics, photonics, and imaging tech companies. SunDensity specializes in Photonic Smart Coatings for solar panels, while QD Solar focuses on developing multilayered perovskite-based photovoltaic materials.

With this new partnership, the Rochester and Toronto locations of the companies will remain operational. The leaders of QD Solar will take on key roles in the SunDensity Canada team, and the two organizations will collaborate on projects to bring innovative technology to market more efficiently.
