Leaders from across North Carolina gathered at the UNC Friday Center in Chapel Hill today to host a summit focused on suicide prevention and mental health resources. The goal of the summit was to discuss what actions leaders can take to share resources and support struggling communities.

The meeting included updates on North Carolina’s suicide prevention plan, information about national suicide prevention resources, and discussions on the steps that can be taken to further support those in need. One of the main topics of discussion was North Carolina’s suicide prevention plan and the resources available for those in need. According to NCDHHS, suicide is a significant concern, especially for youth between the ages of 10 to 18 and 19 to 34. The summit aimed to address this issue and highlight the progress that has been made in the state.

The event provided an opportunity for attendees to build connections and collaborate on ways to improve mental health services in the state. The summit will continue until 6:00 p.m., with leaders working together to find ways to prevent suicide and provide better mental health support for all North Carolinians. Copyright © 2024 WTVD-TV.
