In an attempt to end the conflict in Ukraine, President Volodimir Zelenski of Ukraine and his Swiss counterpart, Viola Amherd, have initiated a Peace Summit. The summit, held in Lucerne, Switzerland, aims to achieve a broad consensus on Zelenski’s peace formula. Despite Russia’s rejection of the proposals, Zelenski remains optimistic about the potential for progress at the summit.

The summit has attracted representatives from around the world, including different continents and nations of varying sizes and political backgrounds. Zelenski emphasized the importance of each nation’s opinions and ideas in the pursuit of peace. He stressed that the agreements reached will help restore the full force of the United Nations Charter.

President Amherd expressed hope that the summit would inspire a process for a just and lasting peace, allowing all participating delegations to present their ideas and points of view. While Russia and China, which has its own peace initiative, are absent from the summit, nearly a hundred countries and international organizations are in attendance.

The United States is represented by Vice President Kamala Harris and White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan at the summit. They will reaffirm their support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression. Despite the challenges ahead, both Zelenski and Amherd are optimistic about the potential for progress at the summit and its impact on Ukraine’s future.
