The Ostego Bay Marine Science Center is hosting summer camps for children aged K-16 who are interested in exploring the marine environment. These camps offer a chance for campers to discover the barrier island and waters of Estero Bay through field trips that introduce them to sea grass communities, plankton populations, mangrove tangles, and bird-nesting areas. The camp’s staff consists of state-certified science teachers with various expertise, providing personalized instruction.

One memorable activity from previous summer camps included campers finding sand dollars on Fort Myers Beach. Another activity involved Stella Trotter and teacher Steven Wilkie using a seine net at Bowditch Point Park on Fort Myers Beach.

If you’re a future scientist or marine biologist looking to dive into hands-on learning experiences, the Ostega Bay Marine Science Center summer camps offer a unique opportunity. The camps run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, with all necessary materials included. The cost is $275 per child, and camp dates are available in June and July.
