TRIMONT– Sydney Borntrager, a higher college senior from Trimont, has raised practically $11,000 for adaptive sports at the Sioux Falls Veteran Affairs Overall health Care Method given that final August.
Borntrager is the Honorary Junior President of the American Legion Auxiliary Division of Minnesota and attends Martin County West Higher College. She initially joined the junior auxiliary when she was seven years old simply because her grandfather, John Borntrager, served in the Air Force.
“I didn’t definitely know what it meant at the time but I stuck with it simply because as I got older, I discovered what it was about and I usually had a definitely close bond with my grandpa,” stated Borntrager.
In 2018 and 2019 Borntrager raised $four,300 for the Minnesota Veterans House in Luverne as a higher college freshman. She thought of fundraising projects in subsequent years but was unable to pursue them due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now as Honorary Junior President Borntrager chosen the Sioux Falls adapted sports plan simply because of her experiences in the four-H shooting sports plan and the applications proximity to southern Minnesota.
“Although it is not in Minnesota, a lot of our southern Minnesota veterans go there for their VA solutions simply because it is closer than the Cities or Saint Cloud,” stated Borntrager.

Soon after graduating higher college later this spring, Borntrager will attend Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa.
