Kristi Cadenbach opened her own store in November 2022 to provide a solution for mothers facing the lack of options in the market for affordable and well-fitting maternity clothes. Her store, All About Mama, near 56th Street and Old Cheney Road in Lincoln, Nebraska, features fitting rooms big enough for strollers and a play area for kids, ensuring that every woman and child who enters is taken care of.

However, despite her efforts, Cadenbach is now struggling to keep her store open due to people cutting back on spending as a result of inflation. She used to have around 40 customers a week, but now she’s lucky if she sees 15. As a small business owner, she is feeling the effects of the economic downturn and is finding it challenging to maintain her business.

Cadenbach hopes to expand her store to include a space for hosting classes and parenting support groups, but declining sales are hindering her plans. She acknowledges that thrift stores tend to do well even in bad economic times, but even they are feeling the impact of the current economic climate. To increase sales and reach a wider audience, she is in the process of building a website to sell clothes online.

Despite these challenges, Cadenbach is determined to keep her business afloat and is finding innovative ways to reach customers. She is hosting her third pop-up shop event, “Bumps, Babies
