The Steelers are excited to have signed former Lions cornerback Cameron Sutton to a one-year deal. At 29 years old, Sutton has experience and skill that will be valuable assets to the team as they look to improve their defense and make a strong playoff push in the upcoming season.
Sutton originally joined the Steelers in 2017 after being selected in the third round of the NFL draft. During his time with Pittsburgh, he played all 16 regular-season games, recording 64 tackles, an interception, and defended seven passes. He also played in three playoff games.
However, Sutton’s time with the Lions was marred by domestic violence allegations in March. He was released by the team amidst these allegations but entered a pretrial diversion program in April after turning himself in to police. His charges were reduced to misdemeanor battery.
Now, Sutton is returning to the Steelers where he will have a chance to make an impact once again on the field. His experience and skill set will be valuable assets to the team as they look to improve their defense and make a strong playoff push in the upcoming season. The Steelers are hopeful that Sutton’s return will help bolster their secondary and contribute to their overall success on the field.
