Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Cameron Heyward is entering his 14th NFL season and has spent his entire career with the team. Despite earning $16 million this year, Heyward is pushing for a contract extension that would allow him to play for another three years. While he has expressed a desire to remain with the Steelers for his entire career, Heyward recently mentioned the possibility of finishing his career in Cleveland due to his ties to the city.

This suggestion did not sit well with Steelers fans, prompting Heyward to address the situation on social media. In a statement posted on Sunday, Heyward clarified that his goal is to stay with the Steelers for the remainder of his career. He also took the opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Father’s Day.

Heyward’s frustration with the pace of contract negotiations was evident when he chose to skip the offseason program. The Steelers have a policy of halting contract talks once the season starts, meaning that Heyward’s future with the team remains uncertain. Drafted by the Steelers in the first round in 2011, Heyward is set to become a free agent in 2025. Despite his desire to stay in Pittsburgh, Heyward’s contract situation remains up in the air.
