The Steelers have signed their first-round offensive tackle, Troy Fautanu, to a four-year rookie deal. Fautanu was the 20th overall pick in the NFL draft, making him the second consecutive year that the Steelers used their first selection on an offensive lineman.

Fautanu’s impressive performance at the University of Washington earned him a spot on the All-Pac-12 first team in 2023. He started all 15 games at left tackle that year and received the Morris Trophy as the top offensive lineman in the Pac-12 Conference, an award voted on by Pac-12 defensive linemen. Additionally, Fautanu demonstrated versatility by making one start at left guard.

General Manager Omar Khan expressed his excitement about having Fautanu join the organization, stating that they had high expectations for him after spending a great deal of time evaluating him. He mentioned meeting with Fautanu at the Combine and having him in for a 30 visit, both of which played a role in their decision to select him.

With Fautanu’s signing, the Steelers now have only second-round center Zach Frazier left unsigned from their draft class. Overall, the team is optimistic about Fautanu’s potential and looks forward to seeing him contribute on the field.
