Stanford’s NiJaree Canady, a Topeka High alum, is heading to the Women’s College World Series for the second year in a row. She led Stanford to an 8-0 win over LSU in a decisive Super Regional series finale. Canady pitched 6.0 innings, allowing only three hits and striking out three batters.
Last year, Canady helped lead Stanford to the semifinals, where they were defeated by eventual National Champions, Oklahoma. Now, she is determined to vie for a National Championship at the WCWS, starting with a game against Texas. As the 2023 National Freshman of the Year and current top-three finalist for the USA Softball Player of the Year award, she has had an impressive sophomore season and was named the 2024 Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year.
Canady’s success on the field has earned her recognition and accolades, making her a standout player to watch in the upcoming WCWS. She is a key player for Stanford and has proven herself as a force to be reckoned with in college softball. With her talent and determination, Canady is poised to make a significant impact as she competes for a shot at the National Championship.
