Richard Hannon secured a Classic one-two in the Irish 2,000 Guineas as Sean Levey rode Rosallion to victory. The colt had been the 10-11 favourite and edged out stablemate Haatem in a thrilling race to the finish line. Haatem had previously finished second in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket in early May, where Notable Speech was the surprise winner.

Rosallion had been cruising home under jockey Jamie Spencer but showed a swift turn of foot in the final strides to clinch the victory by a head. The colt is owned by Sheikh Mohammed. River Tiber finished third in the one-mile race, beaten by a length and a quarter. The race was tightly contested and showcased the talent of both horses and jockeys involved.
