PayPal Holdings, Inc. has announced the appointment of Srini Venkatesan as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective June 24. Venkatesan will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of technology across the entire PayPal ecosystem, including areas such as analytics and data science, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, information security, infrastructure operations, and product engineering.

Venkatesan brings a wealth of knowledge in technology, digital transformation, and AI personalization to PayPal. He has held leadership roles at companies like Walmart, Yahoo, eBay, StubHub, and Marketo. PayPal President and CEO Alex Chriss expressed his confidence in Venkatesan’s ability to lead the company’s technology efforts and drive innovation.

In his new role at PayPal, Venkatesan is excited about the opportunity to leverage his experiences in technology and retail to enhance the shopping experiences of customers. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Bharathiar University and is eager to contribute to PayPal’s mission of revolutionizing global commerce.

Current CTO Archie Deskus will be leaving PayPal after playing a key role in advancing the company’s technology capabilities during her tenure. Under her leadership, PayPal made strides in operating as a platform company and strengthening its technology team, processes, and systems.
