In preparation for the World’s Largest Pancake Breakfast, which will take place in Springfield on May 18th, the city is already buzzing with excitement. Mercy Medical Center has taken charge of the batter and the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department is handling the bacon.
On Friday, May 17th, barricades will be placed at Main Street intersections at Bridge Street and State Street. While traffic will still be able to cross Main Street from Boland Way to Harrison Avenue, it will not be able to travel down Court Street to City Hall Place and back to East Columbus Avenue. “No parking” signs will be enforced in the area starting on Thursday, May 16th.
The streets affected by the road closures include Main Street from State Street to Bridge Street, Boland Way, Harrison Avenue, Court Street, and City Hall Place. These areas will be closed to traffic starting at 4 a.m. on Saturday, May 18th and will reopen around 3 p.m., after the World’s Largest Pancake Breakfast has been served by the Spirit of Springfield and its volunteers.
The event itself will take place on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., right in the heart of downtown Springfield on Main Street. Visitors can indulge in pancakes, bacon, coffee, juice, milk
