However, due to low demand forecasts and supply chain issues, Spotify made the decision to discontinue the Car Thing in the same year despite putting existing units on sale for around 49.35 euros and assuring users that the available devices would continue to function.
Now, Spotify has announced that Car Thing will stop operating on December 9, 2024, permanently ceasing functionality for all users. This move is part of Spotify’s efforts to optimize its product offering and focus on developing new features and enhancements for a better user experience. The platform recommends that users reset their Car Thing to factory settings and dispose of the device following local e-waste guidelines. The company has no plans to release a replacement version of the device.
