The Salt Lake City Council is considering a proposal from the ownership group of the Utah Jazz and recently acquired NHL franchise to revitalize the entrance of the Delta Center. The plan involves a significant overhaul of downtown Salt Lake City to create a sports and entertainment district. This district would include a new arena entrance, a residential tower, and a new hotel.

During a presentation to the council, SEG executive Mike Maughan outlined the plans for the district, stating that renovations to the Delta Center would begin in April if the proposal moves forward. The goal of the project is to provide downtown gathering spaces for the community and offer benefits to residents, even if they don’t attend events at the arena or other venues in the district.
