On Juneteenth, students who have the day off from school can visit the Buffalo Museum of Science for free. The Independent Health Association is sponsoring a Community Health Day at the museum located at 1020 Humboldt Parkway from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This annual event offers outdoor activities, giveaways, and access to Independent Health’s community partners such as University at Buffalo PREPARE, GObike Buffalo, and Buffalo Lafayette Optimist Club who will provide health and wellness information. Other partners include the UB School of Nursing, School of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, and Blue Flag Memorial Project.

Families in the area can explore the museum’s interactive exhibits and galleries at no cost during the event. Additionally, the museum’s rooftop will be open until 3 p.m. for solar viewing, weather permitting, with the museum closing at 4 p.m. The event typically attracts over 1,500 guests, making it a popular community gathering. More information can be found at sciencebuff.org.
