A speeding car crashed into a Hollywood flooring business early Tuesday morning, causing extensive damage to the building. Nearby resident Steven Deshazo heard the crash and described the sound as similar to a wrecking ball going through a building. Deshazo estimated that the car’s speed was at least 100 mph and stated that he saw the driver lose control after flying over the railroad tracks.

The incident was not the first time the building had been hit; in March 2021, a driver speeding hit the railroad tracks, went airborne, crashed into the building, removed the license plate, and fled as the car caught on fire. The driver was caught and charged with leaving the scene of an accident with property damage.

John MacLauchlan, a Digital Content Producer for CBS Miami who graduated with a Communications degree from Florida State University and joined the CBS Miami digital team in February 2007, reported on this incident.
