In an intense clash at Arnos Vale Stadium in St. Vincent, South Africa faced off against Nepal in their final group match on 15 June. The stage was set for a thrilling encounter, with both teams eager to secure victory and advance to the knockout stages of the tournament.
Nepal struggled to keep up with South Africa’s powerful batting lineup, as Reeza Hendricks led the charge with 43 runs off just 49 balls. The rest of South Africa’s batsmen also contributed significantly to their total of 116 runs, leaving Nepal struggling to keep up.
Despite Nepal’s best efforts, they were unable to keep up with South Africa’s impressive batting display. It was only in the final over that they had a chance to win, needing just eight runs to secure victory. However, it was not meant to be, as Ottneil Baartman’s tight bowling allowed them to score only six runs.
With the match coming down to the wire, it all came down to Gulshan Jha needing just two runs off the last ball to tie the scores and force a Super Over. However, fate had other plans as a throw from keeper Quinton de Kock deflected off Jha’s back and into the hands of Heinrich Klaasen, who ran him out and secured victory for South Africa.
