After failing to progress from all seven of their previous World Cup semi-finals, the Proteas finally broke the curse and made it to the final.

Marco Jansen and Tabraiz Shamsi were instrumental in dismantling the Afghan batting lineup, with Jansen finishing with impressive figures of 3-16 and Shamsi picking up 3-6. Despite some concerns about the state of the pitch for such a crucial match, South Africa was able to overcome these challenges and secure their place in the final.

In their chase, South Africa faced some struggles as opener Quinton de Kock was bowled after being hit on the body. However, they managed to comfortably chase down the target within 8.5 overs and secure their spot in the final in Barbados. The Proteas will face either England or India, who will battle it out in the second semi-final on Thursday.
