In the bottom of the third inning, the Sooners finally found their rhythm and seized a scoring opportunity. Jayda Coleman led off with a single and then stole second base after Ella Parker struck out. Kinzie Hansen stepped up to the plate and hit a two-run home run over the left field wall, giving OU a 2-1 lead.

Following Hansen’s home run, Alyssa Brito drew a walk and Alynah Torres hit a two-run single of her own, extending OU’s lead to 4-1 in the game. The Sooners were now in control of the game as their offense was clicking and their pitcher was shutting down the Blue Devils. As they looked to build on their lead further, Kelly Maxwell continued to keep them at bay in the fourth inning by striking out one batter and adding to her total of four strikeouts on the afternoon.
