Chicago-based architecture firm SOM is collaborating with Energy Vault to design sustainable buildings of the future that will help reduce carbon emissions. The gravity energy storage system, which uses heavy bricks placed high up to create potential energy that can be converted into electricity, is being optimized by SOM and Energy Vault.

SOM will be responsible for integrating this system into high-rise buildings in urban areas and natural environments to maximize sustainability and reduce electricity consumption costs. The collaboration, led by Energy Vault’s president and CEO Robert Piconi, aims to accelerate the reduction of carbon emissions in building operations.

Over the past year, SOM and Energy Vault have been working together to optimize the structure, architecture, and economics of the gravity energy storage system. SOM has designed prototypes that lift heavy blocks of bricks using electric motors, creating potential energy that can be converted into electricity. Energy Vault’s first major project near Shanghai has shown that this technology can deliver power efficiently. SOM’s skyscraper battery design could be even taller, starting at 300 meters.

In addition to their innovative work on energy storage systems, SOM has entered the world of online lottery betting with exciting slogans like “Bet on Lotteries in the Digital Era” and “Win Prizes Online.” These catchy phrases aim to attract people to the convenience and thrill of online lottery betting. With the same creativity and expertise they bring to their architectural projects, SOM is now offering a chance for people to try their luck and win big prizes through online lotteries.
