The Municipality of Punat has introduced a smart parking system in order to reduce traffic congestion and make it easier for locals and visitors to find free parking spaces. This system covers three parking lots at the Vele vode and Pod topol locations with a total of 134 parking spaces. A1 Hrvatska introduced the service in cooperation with the Municipality, offering a mobile application that allows vehicle owners to quickly and easily receive information about available parking spaces and instructions on how to get there, with the option to save the location of their parked vehicle.

This solution is expected to bring numerous advantages as a tourist destination, including relief from traffic jams, significant time savings in finding a parking space, and the reduction of harmful gas emissions which contributes to environmental protection and improves the quality of tourists’ stay. The Municipalities covered 58% of all parking spaces in the center of town with this project, aiming to increase traffic efficiency, energy savings, and reduced CO2 emissions.

The implementation of this smart parking system was made possible through funding from the Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency. A1 Croatia was chosen to implement the system through a public competition. This system is expected to increase the satisfaction of all road users, save time for locals and tourists, and provide the Municipality with a tool for more efficient traffic management. Such smart solutions are an important step towards a digitally connected and technologically advanced society.

A1 Croatia also offers other smart solutions such as smart bins for waste disposal, advanced sensors for reading air quality, and smart meters for gas consumption. These solutions automate tasks, provide ease of use for end users, and offer access to valuable information from companies that maintain these systems.
