The Ohio Senate has recently passed legislation known as Senate Bill 63, which aims to protect small businesses and other companies from being involved in asbestos lawsuits where they are not at fault. This bill is a significant step towards ensuring that small businesses are not unjustly targeted in such lawsuits.

NFIB State Director Chris Ferruso expressed his support for the bill, emphasizing its importance for business owners. He highlighted that small businesses often do not have the financial resources or legal expertise to defend themselves against such lawsuits. Even if a claim against them is dismissed, the cost of legal defense alone can be crippling.

The legislation is designed to prevent small businesses from becoming vulnerable to legal actions that could potentially bankrupt them. By passing SB63, the Ohio Senate has taken a crucial step towards protecting these businesses and providing them with much-needed protection from frivolous asbestos lawsuits.

NFIB and its members are grateful to the Ohio Senate for championing this legislation and are hopeful that the House will also support SB63. Ultimately, they are eager for Governor DeWine to sign the bill into law to provide much-needed protection for small businesses in Ohio.
