Gina Thorsen, CEO of Stormy Kromer and an iconic outdoor apparel company in the Upper Peninsula, was recently awarded the SBAM award for being Advocate of the Year in Marquette, Michigan. The award recognizes her strong advocacy for small businesses in the state and her dedication to making Michigan a great place to operate a small business.

Thorsen’s commitment to the success of all small businesses and her advocacy for their protection has been impressive. She took over Stormy Kromer when her father retired and has since made a significant impact on the company. Thorsen also serves as secretary on the SBAM Board of Directors, attends events across the state, and is involved in various economic development initiatives.

According to SBAM President and CEO Brian Calley, Thorsen has been a strong advocate in the Upper Peninsula and has worked tirelessly to recruit more small businesses to participate in efforts to support entrepreneurship. Her efforts have helped create a stronger community for all small businesses in Michigan.

In response to receiving the Advocate of the Year award, Thorsen expressed gratitude for the recognition. She emphasized the importance of supporting and advocating for fellow small businesses, highlighting the interconnectedness of the small business community. Thorsen credited SBAM for facilitating connections among small businesses and enabling them to thrive together.
