Apple has recently unveiled its thinnest product, the iPad Pro 2024, and now reports suggest that the company is working on developing an even slimmer iPhone. The new device, code-named D23, is set to debut in 2025 and will be powered by Apple’s next-generation mobile processor, the A19.

The slim iPhone is expected to feature a 6.6-inch screen, an aluminum frame, and a modern-looking punch-hole cutout similar to Android smartphones, rather than the large dynamic island seen on the iPhone 15 series. It will likely launch alongside the iPhone 17 series in September 2025 and may be Apple’s most expensive model yet, possibly costing more than the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Apple is also reportedly working on new battery technology with a higher energy density, allowing for a smaller battery to pack more power. This advancement will enable the company to further reduce the size of the device while maintaining performance.

In addition, Apple is said to be planning to discontinue the iPhone Plus model in favor of a smaller and more affordable option. The iPhone 16 Plus could be replaced by a new lineup of devices that offer users more choices at different price points.

According to a report from IDC, Samsung currently leads the smartphone market with a 20.8% market share while Apple follows closely with a 17.3% market share. Despite a decrease in shipments by 9.6%, Apple continues to innovate with new releases to stay competitive in the market. With plans to release two new iPhones in 2025 including an affordable next-generation iPhone SE and a slimmer iPhone inspired by the latest iPad Pro, Apple aims to expand its offerings and appeal to a wider range of consumers.

Overall, these developments are likely to provide users with more options and help boost sales for both companies in this competitive marketplace for smartphones.
