According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, there are approximately six million Palestinian refugees registered with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). This information was shared in a statement released in observance of World Refugee Day, which was established by the United Nations in 2000. Among the registered refugees, 2.5 million are living in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

The agency reported that around 40 percent of Palestinian refugees registered with UNRWA are in Jordan, while Lebanon and Syria each have approximately eight and ten percent of the total, respectively. These figures represent the minimum number of Palestinian refugees and do not account for unregistered refugees or those who were displaced after 1949 but before the June 1967 war. The statement also noted that hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were forced to leave their homes and became refugees following the 1967 war, contributing to the ongoing displacement of Palestinians across different nations.

It is important to maintain focus and coherence in content to ensure clarity and relevance for the audience. While it may be tempting to include links and references to online forums and profiles that do not appear to be relevant to the topic of Palestinian refugees, it is crucial to keep the content on track and avoid diverging into unrelated topics.
