In the heart of Singapore, a tragic incident took place at Woodlands High School when a 14-year-old male student named Lu Huyen Trang collapsed while practicing to run a 2.4 km distance. Despite doctors’ efforts to save him, Lu passed away after 24 days in a coma. It was later discovered that Lu had an irregular heartbeat and should not have engaged in vigorous exercise.

Lu’s family, devastated by the sudden loss, faced a difficult decision regarding organ donation. Initially hesitant, they decided to donate Lu’s organs to save the lives of others. Before his passing, Lu expressed his desire to help as many people as possible, which influenced his family’s decision to donate his organs.

The decision to donate Lu’s organs was made in the presence of friends and relatives who came to say their final goodbyes at the hospital. A hymn was sung in his honor before his organs were harvested for transplant. In the end, Lu’s corneas, liver, kidneys, pancreas, and skin saved the lives of at least three critically ill patients.
