Verizon Business has recently been awarded a gold-level verified peering provider (VPP) designation by Google, which simplifies the process of connecting to various Google cloud services compared to direct peering. This designation allows Verizon to handle the provisioning and maintenance of internet connectivity for customers accessing Google services such as Workspace, Cloud, and APIs, removing complexities related to routing design and operations.
The gold level designation is the higher of two service designations and is assigned to ISPs that provide connections to Google services in multiple urban areas, setting them apart from the silver tier which covers a single metropolitan area. By offloading peering duties to Verizon, customers can benefit from improved latency-sensitive secure access service edge (SASE) and complex SD-WAN migrations. This includes Verizon providing main connectivity along with back-up for redundancy to ensure smooth business operations.
Kyle Malady, CEO of Verizon Business, stated that the VPP programme aligns with the company’s strategy of simplifying operations for customers while providing secure and highly reliable connectivity. This designation reflects Verizon’s commitment to offering efficient and effective solutions to its customers in connecting to Google cloud services.
