On Monday, billionaire venture capitalist and partner at Sequoia Capital, Doug Leone, reversed his previous criticism of Donald Trump and announced that he would be endorsing the former president for this year’s election. Leone had previously condemned Trump for his role in inciting the January 6 attack on the Capitol, but now stated that he supports Trump for various reasons, including concerns about the country’s direction, the immigration system, the deficit, and foreign policy missteps.

In a post on X, Leone explained his decision to support Trump, joining the ranks of Silicon Valley elites who have recently announced their endorsement of the former president. This includes other prominent figures such as Shaun Maguire, a partner at Sequoia, and billionaire venture capitalist David Sacks.

Following the January 6 attack, Leone had disavowed his support for Trump, stating that the former president’s behavior during the riots had led him to lose many of his supporters, including himself. However, his re-endorsement of Trump now aligns him with those in Silicon Valley who have chosen to back the former president following his recent felony conviction in New York.
