The semiconductor industry is a vital force in the United States, driving economic growth, national security, and global competitiveness. As such, the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) released a statement on April 30, 2024, in support of provisions included in legislation pending before the Senate Commerce Committee. Vice President of Government Affairs David Isaacs made the statement, highlighting the importance of funding critical CHIPS & Science Act programs.

SIA is a powerful advocate for the semiconductor industry and represents over 99% of U.S. semiconductor industry revenue and nearly two-thirds of non-U.S. chip firms. Their goal is to strengthen their leadership in manufacturing, design, and research by encouraging policies that foster innovation, drive business growth, and promote international competition. To achieve this objective, SIA works closely with Congress, the Administration, and key industry stakeholders around the world.

In their statement on CHIPS & Science programs, SIA commended Chair Cantwell for proposing important provisions that would fund these initiatives. These programs would be instrumental in advancing innovation and promoting resiliency throughout the semiconductor supply chain. By supporting these provisions through legislation pending before the Senate Commerce Committee, SIA hopes to ensure that America remains competitive in this critical global industry.
