Mayor Tom Arceneaux has extended the emergency declaration in Shreveport due to ongoing safety and health concerns at three apartment complexes. The public health and safety emergency declaration for The Jolie, The Pines, and Villa Norte apartment complexes has been extended until August 2. This decision was made because the apartment complexes continue to pose a threat to the surrounding areas and residents of Shreveport.

The extension of the emergency declaration grants the Shreveport Police Department the authority to remove and potentially arrest anyone found occupying an apartment unit, camping on the properties, or scavenging items from them. Additionally, public works and property standards have the authority to address health and safety hazards and remove any illegally dumped garbage from these premises.

This extension also allows city departments to take action to prevent or eliminate hazardous conditions that could affect public safety and health. It is an important step in ensuring the well-being of the community and addressing ongoing issues at these apartment complexes.
