On Friday, May 31 at 10:52 p.m., Oakland County deputies received a report of a shooting at a building in Pontiac that was known for its drug use. The incident took place at a business located within Huron Plaza on West Huron Street.

Upon arrival, police observed several bullet holes in the front of the building and spent shell casings in the street. They also discovered that multiple vehicles in the parking lot had been damaged by gunfire. As they entered the building, officers found a loaded assault rifle-style magazine and more shell casings scattered around.

Inside the building, officers encountered two individuals with gunshot wounds – a 23-year-old Pontiac man holding an AR-style rifle and another 23-year-old Pontiac man with a more serious back injury. Both were rushed to hospitals for treatment, with the first in stable condition and the second in critical condition.

As they searched the building further, police discovered evidence of drug use – including marijuana and drug paraphernalia – indicating that it was being used as a meeting spot after hours. A 28-year-old Pontiac man was identified as the suspect in the shooting and taken into custody without incident. He is currently being held at Oakland County Jail with charges pending.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing, but it’s clear that drugs continue to pose a significant threat to public safety in Oakland County. The authorities are working diligently to bring those responsible to justice and prevent similar incidents from happening again in the future.
