The World Beer Cup is an international competition that recognizes brewing excellence, and this year Shoe Tree Brewing Co. was awarded a silver medal for its Lahontan Brown beer. This American-style brown ale is known for its caramel, chocolate, and balanced hops notes.

STBC is a 7-bbl brewpub located in Carson City that takes pride in brewing both classic and inventive beers. They are often referred to as “The Olympics of Beer.” This year’s winners were chosen by an international panel of 280 beer judges from 37 countries, who evaluated a total of 9,300 entries from 2,060 breweries and 50 countries.

The Brewers Association established the World Beer Cup competition in 1996 to celebrate the art and science of brewing. The award ceremony took place on April 24 at The Venetian in Las Vegas where awards were given out in 110 different beer-style categories.
