Over the next week, 232 teams from across the region will compete at Shawnee Sports Complex to be crowned regional champions. This marks the largest event hosted at Shawnee with a total economic impact of $32 million to the area.
Commissioner Ben Salango expressed his excitement in welcoming US Youth Soccer back to Kanawha County for the second week in a row. He emphasized the positive impact that the event has on the community, highlighting how teams were active in local communities during their previous visit. Commission President Lance Wheeler congratulated everyone involved in the successful organization of the events and expressed his hopes that teams from West Virginia would perform as well as they did in the Presidents Cup.
With matches scheduled at both Shawnee and Barboursville Soccer Complex, the championship games will take place at Shawnee Sports Complex. The US Youth Soccer Eastern Region comprises 15 State Associations from across the region.
