Dutchland Foods of Lyon County has been named Small Business of the Week by U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Ranking Member of the Senate Small Business Committee. Ernst plans to highlight a small business in each of Iowa’s 99 counties throughout this Congress, and Dutchland Foods is the first recipient.

The Van Wyhe family founded Dutchland Foods in 1992 in a former bank building on Main Street in Lester, Iowa. What started as a small operation in a single room has now expanded to two locations. Despite the passing of founders Wayne and Jennie Van Wyhe, the business continues to thrive with their sons Pete and Susan at the helm, along with their grandsons working in the company.

Dutchland Foods provides baked goods in bulk to various industries across the country, including coffee shops, hospitality, bakeries, catering, and restaurants. The company has recently announced plans to distribute their products in the United Kingdom, showcasing their commitment to expanding their business while maintaining quality and exceptional customer service.

The Van Wyhe family is actively involved with Lyon County Economic Development, demonstrating their dedication to supporting the local community. Senator Ernst commends Dutchland Foods for their dedication to quality products, experienced production team, and exceptional customer service. She looks forward to seeing continued success of the business and recognizing more Iowa small businesses with her Small Business of the Week award.
