Senator Shelley Moore Capito recently toured the newly expanded West Virginia Health Right clinic in Charleston’s East End. She was amazed by the comprehensive services offered in the newly doubled-sized building, and praised the dedicated volunteers and staff who make the clinic possible.

Capito played a key role in securing $4 million in Congressionally Directed Spending for the project, which is part of a larger $12 million expansion initiative. She highlighted the importance of the clinic’s services in addressing issues such as substance abuse, mental health, and diabetes care.

The expansion project has been in the works since 2019, with significant fundraising efforts involved. Health Right CEO Angie Settle emphasized the importance of providing additional care to underserved populations, noting that the new facility is projected to serve over 60,000 patients annually, a significant increase from the current patient load of 44,000.

Settle explained that the clinic has been in need of additional space for quite some time. The expansion includes dedicated areas for behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, medical services, specialty care, vision care, and dental services. The new facility will provide much-needed room for the clinic to accommodate more patients and offer more comprehensive care.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the East End clinic expansion is scheduled for June 26 at 3 p.m. This event will celebrate the completion of the project and the increased capacity for providing crucial healthcare services to the community.
