The Seattle Storm announced on Tuesday that they have extended the contract of forward Ezi Magbegor. Magbegor, currently leading the WNBA in blocks per game, has been a vital player for the team in her fifth season in Seattle. She is averaging 13.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, and three blocks per game.

Seattle’s general manager, Talisa Rhea, expressed her excitement about Magbegor’s decision to stay with the team. “Ezi is a star in this league and a core part of our championship pursuit,” Rhea said. “She has shown time and time again that she can be a valuable asset to our team.”

Magbegor was selected by Seattle in the first round of the 2019 draft but made her WNBA debut in 2020. She has been named to the second-team all-WNBA defensive team twice and was an All-Star for the first time last year. In addition to her success in the WNBA, Magbegor has also been a key player for the Australian national team. She helped Australia qualify for the upcoming Olympics in Paris and was named the tournament MVP for the FIBA Olympic qualifying tournament in Brazil earlier this year. At just 24 years old, Magbegor’s skills and contributions on both the national and international stage have solidified her as a valuable player for the Storm.
