Brazil’s National Oil Company, Petrobras, has recently awarded Seatrium Limited a tender to supply two new floating production storage and offloading vessels (FPSOs) platforms P-84 and P-85 for the Atapu and Sepia fields. These contracts are worth approximately $11 billion and will be used in the Santos Basin, 200 km offshore of Rio de Janeiro.

The P-84 and P-85 FPSOs are part of Petrobras’ new generation of high capacity platforms that prioritize sustainability through innovative technologies. With a production capacity of 225,000 bpd and a gas processing capacity of 10 million Sm3/d, these platforms will incorporate advanced technologies such as zero routine flaring and venting, variable speed drives, and measures to control emissions and capture CO2. In addition, an all-electric concept will improve power generation and energy efficiency, resulting in a 30% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions intensity.

Construction for these FPSOs is set to begin in the first quarter of 2025 with a completion date scheduled for 2029. This project highlights Seatrium’s commitment to responsible and sustainable operations, enhancing operational efficiency while reducing environmental impact.
