Despite being drafted fifth overall by the Seahawks, Witherspoon missed three games due to a hip pointer injury. However, he is determined to stay healthy and improve for the upcoming season, with a goal of playing every game and making up for lost opportunities from the previous year.

Witherspoon showcased his talent in his rookie year, making one interception, 79 tackles, three sacks, one forced fumble, and 16 pass breakups. He has since taken on a more vocal leadership role within the team during the offseason and is being considered for the captaincy role for the upcoming season.
