Cevotec, a leading expert in fiber patch placement (FPP) automation, is showcasing their latest Samba Pro layup systems at the upcoming composite industry event. The company is highlighting the Samba Pro PV-1 system, which is specifically designed for reinforcing composite tanks on an industrial scale. By utilizing dome reinforcements and optimized filament winding, pressure vessel OEMs can save up to 15% on fiber material and associated costs while still achieving the same mechanical properties.

In a collaborative project with Roth Composite Machinery, Cikoni, and an undisclosed tank manufacturer, Cevotec validated the effectiveness of the dome reinforcement solution. At their exhibit, they are showcasing a cutout of one of the project vessels, providing a glimpse of the initial reinforcement layer. Dr. Dimitrios Sikoutris, a technical expert at Cevotec, will be presenting the project results, technical details, and industrial applications in a conference presentation titled “Composite tanks innovation: 15% weight reduction by using dome reinforcements in an industrial process” on Wednesday, Sept. 11th. Visitors can also schedule meetings for a live assessment of potential savings for their specific vessels.

Cevotec has introduced FPP layup features for multi-material components to address the needs of high-performance composite aerostructures. These features include custom functionalities like post-placement push, push and hold, and accentuated 3D placement, allowing for precise placement of challenging materials on complex shapes. This enables a direct 3D layup with accurate fiber orientation. FPP is the preferred choice when AFP layup systems face limitations in terms of geometric complexity, material handling or laminate requirements.
