After being diagnosed with colon diverticular bleeding, a 63-year-old man, Mr. Hung, was immediately admitted to Tam Anh General Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City for treatment. His symptoms included bloody stools, fatigue, pale skin, rapid pulse, and low blood pressure. Doctors provided intensive resuscitation to stabilize his condition before further tests were conducted.
The results of the tests revealed that Mr. Hung had bleeding diverticula in the hepatic flexure, which required immediate intervention to prevent further bleeding and re-bleeding. Endoscopic treatment was attempted, but due to the difficult location of the bleeding diverticulum, alternative treatments such as endoscopic band ligation or surgical removal of the affected colon section were considered. However, Mr. Hung responded well to the endoscopic treatment and his bleeding stopped within 10 minutes.
