In San Diego, Rubio’s Coastal Grill is set to close 13 locations by the end of the day on Friday. The reason for this decision is due to the rising cost of doing business in California. According to a spokesperson for Rubio’s, these store closures are necessary for their long-term plan to ensure success in the future.

The specific locations that will be closing in San Diego include Chula Vista Eastlake, El Cajon, Escondido, Kearny Mesa, La Jolla UCSD campus, La Jolla, Sorrento Mesa, San Marcos, Solana Beach, Torrey Highlands, Vista, Naval Base San Diego and Pacific Beach. Out of its 48 underperforming locations in California as of May 31st ,Rubio’s has made the choice to shut down these locations while keeping 86 other branches open in California as well as Arizona and Nevada.

This strategic move by Rubio’s aims to guarantee their continued success as a chain restaurant in the years ahead.
