The economic success of the holiday can be measured through hotel occupancy rates, room sales, revenue generated, and consumer spending. In 2022, a study by San Diego State University estimated that up to 300,000 people watched Big Bay Boom in person, resulting in an economic impact of up to $90 million.
Kelley highlighted that San Diego had the highest hotel occupancy rate in the country last July, indicating its popularity during holidays like the Fourth of July.
